Ladies
We are a friendly group of around 20 women of varying ages and abilities and we warmly welcome any new women to join us, whether you are a complete beginner or have played before.
A Very Warm Welcome to Baxenden Women's Golf Section
Supportive. Social. Affordable. Open to every woman who wants to give golf a go.
Joining a golf club can feel a little overwhelming, especially if you’re new to the game or haven’t played in years. At Baxenden, we’ve made it our mission to change that. Our Women’s Section is friendly, relaxed and genuinely welcoming, with a small group of women of all ages and abilities who love helping new members find their feet.
Whether you’re picking up a club for the first time, thinking about a club change, or looking for somewhere you’ll feel at home, you’ll fit right in here.
The Best-Value Women's Golf Membership in the North West (maybe even England…)
Priced that way because we’re serious about growing women’s golf.
We want more women to enjoy golf, and our Club is putting real effort behind that. That’s why our 7-day Ladies membership is an exceptional offer:
- £150 for 12 months (first-club members)
- £90 for 12 months (second-club members)
Low price however does not mean low value.
Our pristine 9-hole course is beautifully maintained, enjoyable to play and offers stunning countryside views that make every round feel special. It’s genuinely cheaper than most driving ranges, yet gives you a far richer, more rewarding golfing experience.
This is your invitation to join a supportive community, build confidence and enjoy a sport that can stay with you for life.
New to Golf? We Make It Easy.
If you’re nervous about joining a club, you’re not alone, and you won’t be the first. With that in mind, we’ve built a welcoming pathway for beginners:
- Join one of our women for a relaxed walk around the course
- Play a few holes together to get a feel for the game
- Local lesson recommendations to build confidence
- Arrange to meet up with members at a local driving range for a no-pressure practice session
We want you to enjoy golf, feel supported and be part of something bigger at Baxenden Golf Course.
Our Buddy Scheme - Confidence From Day One
Every new member is offered a buddy, someone who’ll show you the course, help you settle in, play a few holes with you, and guide you through the basics of rules and etiquette if you are unsure.
Your buddy can also help you work towards your handicap if you don’t already have one. It’s a relaxed, friendly way to build confidence and make new connections.
Monday is Women's Day
Monday is Women’s Day at Baxenden, giving you priority on the fairway and a dedicated competition slot.
- Tees reserved for women on a Monday morning
- Later tee times available if mornings don’t suit
We also run Sunday competitions, perfect if you work during the week but still want to play competitively.
Plenty of Ways to Play — Social or Competitive
Whether you golf for fun, fitness, or friendly competition, you’ll find something that suits you:
- Teams can participate in East Lancashire Ladies Golf Association Competitions and the Observer Golf Trophy
- Women can join some club mixed competitions throughout the year and the Winter League
- Opportunities to play other local courses in regular opens
- Regular Women’s Section meetings, open to all women members and their input

About Baxenden Golf Club
We, Baxenden GC call on everyone involved in golf to play their part in developing a culture that values women’s involvement in every aspect of the sport, from participating to pursuing a career.
– Our aim is to increase the number of women and girls playing and working in golf.
– To achieve this goal and to enable women to flourish throughout golf, we recognise the need for a fundamental shift in culture. There is a clear ethical need for change and the potential economic benefits of growing the sport through more women and girls playing are substantial.

– In signing this Charter, we Baxenden GC commit to making tangible efforts to develop a welcoming and inspiring environment for women. We will do more to attract women into golf, to remain, and to have rewarding careers.
The Charter:
– Is a statement of intent from the golf industry and Baxenden GC, to unite and to focus gender balance at all levels
– Commits us all to supporting measures to increase the number of women, girls and families playing golf
– Calls for positive action to encourage women to pursue careers in all areas of the sport
– Recognises the need for change that creates an inclusive environment within golf and our golf club
